Troya Review: The Best Turkish Breakfast in San Francisco

A shared Turkish breakfast table of cheeses, olives, and spreads like the weekend spread at Troya in San Francisco

My ideal Saturday in Pacific Heights has a shape: a casual set of tennis up at Alta Plaza Park, then a few blocks down the hill to Troya, where the table slowly disappears under a Turkish breakfast.

Troya serves the best Turkish breakfast I’ve found in San Francisco so far — a family-style weekend spread at 2125 Fillmore St, right next door to Jane on Fillmore. It’s been holding down this corner of Fillmore and Sacramento since 2006, and the weekend brunch starts at 10am.

The Turkish Breakfast Is the Move

Here’s what shows up: marinated olives, a proper cheese selection, tomato-cucumber salad, fresh and dried fruit, tahini spread, kaymak with honey, labneh, muhammara, shakshuka, and a bread basket with simit and cheese börek. It’s built family-style for two, which is where the group math kicks in — order a spread for every couple of people and let everybody graze across the whole table. It’s the rare brunch format that gets better the more people you bring, and Troya handles big groups well.

The catch: the Turkish breakfast is a weekend event. On weekdays Troya is a dinner situation (plus Friday lunch), so aim for a Saturday or Sunday morning, and reserve ahead if you’re bringing the whole crew.

The Alta Plaza + Fillmore Combo

This is the weekend recipe: first-come-first-served courts at Alta Plaza Park in the morning, Turkish breakfast at Troya when you’ve earned it, then a slow wander down Fillmore Street’s shops and cafes to let the kaymak settle. It’s a really nice weekend day, and I will be taking no further questions.

The Verdict on Troya

  • Best for: Group brunches that share well · post-tennis refueling
  • Order: The Turkish breakfast spread — roughly one per two people, and multiply
  • Know before you go: The spread is weekend mornings only, from 10am
  • Where: 2125 Fillmore St (Google Maps) · troyasf.com

Troya earned its slot on my best brunch in San Francisco list — and if your morning leans matcha instead of tea, Jane next door pours a solid one (details in my best matcha in SF ranking).
