Jane on Fillmore Review: The Best Cafe in SF to Actually Meet Someone

A latte and pastry on a cafe table, like meeting a friend at Jane on Fillmore in San Francisco

Honest ranking first, because that’s the whole deal on this blog: Jane on Fillmore does not make the best matcha in San Francisco. It makes really solid matcha — and it might still be the café I recommend most often.

Jane on Fillmore is the best café in San Francisco for actually meeting someone: indoor seats, outdoor seats, a grab-and-walk-to-the-park option, good lattes across the board, and a pastry case where the gluten-free options don’t feel like an afterthought.

What to Order at Jane on Fillmore

My receipts tell the story: an iced strawberry matcha latte with oat milk one visit, a plain matcha latte with almond milk the next, GF cookies alongside an iced tea on a third. The matcha is dependable, the other lattes are pretty good too, and the gluten-free pastries hold their own against the regular case — which, if you’re GF, you know is not nothing.

Some cafés are about the cup. This one’s about the company — and the fact that you can take the company for a walk somewhere green afterward.

The Verdict on Jane on Fillmore

  • Best for: Coffee-shop meetings, catch-ups, and grab-and-stroll dates
  • My orders: Iced strawberry matcha latte (oat), matcha latte (almond), GF cookies
  • Where: Fillmore Street (Google Maps)

Jane rounds out my best matcha in San Francisco ranking as the meetup pick. For the cup-first end of the spectrum, it’s Constance; for the treat end, Q Specialty.
