AUTHOR EVENTS

I’m Amy Suto, a bestselling author, a former Hollywood TV writer, and a working memoir ghostwriter. I write across genres: a romantic thriller, a romantasy, a globetrotting detective series, and nonfiction about making a living as a writer. If you run a bookstore, a library, or a festival, tell me what your readers love and I’ll build the event around it.

Events I can do

Romance night

For your romance readers: a reading from Let Me Be Your Ghost and the story behind it, from TV writers’ rooms to a slow-burn romantic thriller. A talk with Q&A, or in conversation with a bookseller or local author.

Thriller night

For your suspense shelf: the real job behind the book. I ghostwrite memoirs for founders and athletes, and the novel started with a what-if from my Hollywood years. Wouldn’t the FBI want one of us in the room?

From Pilot to Page

The hands-on writing class I taught for the opening of The Love Potion Library in San Francisco, where the seats ran a waitlist: writing your first novel with TV storytelling techniques. Romance by default, any genre on request.

Romantasy Q&A

The Ash Trials is my romantasy, drafted in four months. A talk or Q&A for your fantasy readers on writing romantasy, plus what I’m reading and reviewing in the genre.

Memoir workshop

Turning your life into a book, drawn from more than a decade as a memoir ghostwriter and my book How to Write a Memoir. A good fit for libraries and writing groups.

Signing or meet-and-greet

The simplest version: a table, a stack of books, and a few hours of saying hi. Daytime works. I’ll bring my other books too if you’d like them on the table.

My favorite evening is an after-hours hour with something meatier than a signing: a conversation with a bookseller or a local author, or a short talk with Q&A, then a signing. A daytime meet-and-greet works too. For keynotes, conferences, and corporate workshops, see my speaking page.

FAQ: hosting an event with me

What kinds of events do you do?

Talks with Q&A, conversations with a bookseller or a local author, hands-on writing classes, signings and meet-and-greets, book club visits in person or over video, and festival panels. Pick one or mix them. A short talk and then a signing is my favorite evening.

Which genres can you speak to?

Romance and romantic suspense (Let Me Be Your Ghost), romantasy (The Ash Trials), mystery (The Nomad Detective), and nonfiction about writing for a living (Write for Money and Power). I write across genres, so a mixed-shelf store is an easy fit.

Where are you based, and do you travel?

I split my time between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The tour runs from California to North Carolina, and I’m glad to travel for the right event or join over video.

How do we get books for the event?

Let Me Be Your Ghost is on Ingram, returnable at a 55% discount, from my imprint, Sutoscience LLC. Or I’ll bring copies on consignment, whichever is easier for you. Signed stock can stay on your shelf after the event, and I’m happy to bring my other books too.

Is Let Me Be Your Ghost right for our audience?

It’s a romantic thriller for readers 18 and up with open-door scenes, so an evening event fits it best. My writing classes, memoir workshop, and nonfiction talks work for any room.

Can you do a virtual event or a book club visit?

Yes. I’ve spoken at online summits and recorded a whole podcast tour from my desk, and a virtual book club visit or class works the same way.

What do you need from us?

A link to your event page once it’s up, so I can list it on my tour page and send it to my readers. For a class, a screen for slides. That’s about it.

Do you have a media kit?

Yes. The author event kit (PDF) has ISBNs, Ingram terms, paste-ready event copy, and a bio, and my press kit has headshots and the cover to download.
