Jandii Cafe Review: Matcha Einspanners and High Ceilings

I ordered one of the best iced matcha einspanners I’ve had in the Bay Area at Jandii, and it was somehow the second most interesting thing about the place.
The first: the room. High ceilings, a skylight, two floors of natural light, and a minimalist interior so calm it makes you want to lower your voice and raise your standards. Half the seats held people reading or deep in laptop-land in the middle of the day, and there were still seats open, which in San Francisco cafe terms is a small miracle.
Jandii is a matcha, coffee, and scone cafe at 1100 Taraval St in San Francisco’s Sunset, from the owners of brunch favorite Sweet Maple, and it might be the prettiest place in the city to get a morning of work done.
The Interior Is the Main Event
Plenty of cafes in this city tolerate laptops. Jandii feels designed for them: tall windows, warm wood, white walls, pendant lights, and cozy upstairs corners where you could settle in with a book and lose an afternoon. I’ve worked out of cafes on four continents, so I don’t say this lightly — this is a great place to work, read, and generally pretend you have nowhere else to be.

The view from upstairs. Note the ceiling height, the skylight, and the general absence of chaos.
What to Order at Jandii
The iced matcha einspanner ($8.50, oat milk for me) is the order: a deep green pour under a cap of softly sweet cream, dusted with matcha on top. I’ve been running an ongoing matcha investigation across this city, and this einspanner is probably one of the best I’ve had in the Bay Area. It drinks like dessert that respects you.
The scones are a third of the entire concept (the menu is essentially coffee, matcha, scones, done), and my raspberry scone ($6.50) held up its end: split open with jam, really solid, the kind of scone that doesn’t need rescuing by the drink.
And the one I couldn’t test for you: the cold brew on tap, which I hear is phenomenal. I’m on a break from coffee right now, so this is reporting rather than testimony — word is it’s made with sweetened oat milk, which makes it run a little sweet, and people feel strongly in both directions about that. Black-coffee purists, calibrate your expectations. Everyone else, report back to me.

The raspberry scone, holding up its end of the three-item concept.
The Verdict on Jandii
- Best for: Laptop mornings · reading dates with yourself · matcha einspanner cravings
- My order: The iced matcha einspanner with oat milk + a raspberry scone
- Damage: $19.65 for the matcha and the scone, tip included
- Know before you go: It’s a daylight operation (roughly 9 to 4), so plan the work session accordingly
- Where: 1100 Taraval St, the Sunset (Google Maps)
Jandii joins my ranking of the best matcha in San Francisco (the Matcha Snob Scale grows) — and yes, we hit it the same morning as Breadbelly’s Kaya Toast across the park. Breakfast is a research vertical now.
