Reading Alex Hormozi at midnight is the reason my freelance rate went from $350 to $750 an hour. I know how that sentence sounds. I have the invoices.

I picked up $100M Offers expecting a shouty internet-business book about scaling gyms. What I actually got was the clearest thinking on pricing I’ve ever read, delivered at a moment when I was still quoting numbers designed to keep everyone comfortable except me. I tell the full story of that midnight rate raise in Write for Money and Power — consider this review the origin story.

The spoiler-free setup, because yes, I review business books like novels: Hormozi argues that most businesses don’t have a marketing problem, they have an offer problem. His fix is the Grand Slam Offer: pricing, guarantees, bonuses, and naming stacked until saying no feels harder than saying yes.

What I Loved About $100M Offers by Alex Hormozi

The value equation rewired me. Hormozi breaks what people actually pay for into four levers (dream outcome, likelihood of success, time, and effort), and once you see your services through that lens, you stop selling hours and start selling outcomes. Hours are sand. Sell outcomes. That reframe took me from $350 to $750 an hour practically overnight, and it eventually walked me all the way to $1,000. The first time I quoted that number, there was a long silence. Then: “Send the invoice.”

I also love how little respect this book has for padding. Chapters are short. Claims come with worked examples and actual math. I read around 80 books a year, and the business shelf is mostly one blog post wearing a hardcover. This one earns its page count, and it’s the book I hand to freelancers and solopreneurs before any other.

What I Didn’t Love About $100M Offers

The examples live in Hormozi’s world: gyms, agencies, supplement brands. If you’re a writer, nobody hands you the services-business translation — you’ll map the guarantees and bonuses onto craft work yourself. The mapping is worth it. It’s just homework the book doesn’t do for you.

Final Thoughts on $100M Offers

If you charge money for your work, read $100M Offers this month, then let it talk you out of the discount you were about to offer. Charge what the outcome is worth, not what the hours cost. It also pairs dangerously well with the rest of the trilogy — my reviews of $100M Leads and $100M Money Models are on the blog too.

My final score: 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Do I recommend this book? 👍 Yes! Read it before you quote your next project.
